A Pass has announced plans to launch a personalized music app in Uganda that will allow fans to stream and customize his songs. This innovative platform aims to make his music more accessible while addressing the challenge of low payouts from existing streaming services.
“I’m looking at an app where people can probably go into the old songs and customise here and there,” A Pass revealed. He criticized global streaming platforms for offering artists very little compensation, describing the payments as “joking money.” This app represents his effort to connect directly with fans and create new revenue opportunities.
A Pass joins a growing list of global artists who have launched their own apps or platforms to take control of music distribution. For example, Kanye West’s STEM Player allowed fans to remix tracks from his album Donda 2, offering an interactive experience beyond traditional streaming. Prince was an early pioneer with the NPG Music Club, which gave fans direct access to music and exclusive content. More recently, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift have used their own digital platforms and apps to engage fans and increase control over their music.
By launching his own app, A Pass is positioning himself as a digital innovator within Uganda’s music industry. This move could inspire other local artists to adopt similar strategies to boost earnings and deepen fan engagement. The A Pass App promises to transform how Ugandan music is consumed, offering a more personalized and interactive experience for fans while empowering artists financially.
