DPP Withdraws Child Trafficking, Defilement Charges Against Don Nasser

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has withdrawn charges of aggravated trafficking in children and defilement of a minor against businessman and socialite Nasser Nduhukire, popularly known as Don Nasser.

The decision was announced on Tuesday during a pretrial hearing before Justice Andrew Bashaija at the International Crimes Division of the High Court.

Nduhukire had been jointly charged alongside Promise Ateete on counts of aggravated trafficking in children and defilement. However, during the court proceedings, State Attorney Mr. Kyomuhendo informed the court that the DPP had decided to discontinue the case.

“I have instructions to tender a nolle prosequi letter dated February 4, 2026, indicating that the DPP has lost interest in the matter,” the prosecutor submitted.

A nolle prosequi is a formal notice by the prosecution declaring that it will no longer pursue charges against an accused person.

The charges were withdrawn in Nduhukire’s absence. His lawyer, Mr. Evans Ochieng, told court that his client was unwell and unable to attend the session.

Upon receipt of the nolle prosequi, Justice Bashaija formally terminated the proceedings against the businessman. The court further ordered that Nduhukire’s cash bail of Shs3 million be refunded and directed the return of his passport.

The withdrawal of the charges brings an abrupt end to a case that had drawn public attention due to the gravity of the allegations and the profile of the accused.
