“I Am the Bar” – Alien Skin Dismisses Hit Song Debate, Declares Himself Uganda’s Unmatched No.1

Ugandan music’s most polarizing figure, Alien Skin, has ignited fresh controversy after declaring that chart-topping hits are irrelevant to his dominance in the industry.

In an exclusive interview with Sanyuka TV, the Fangone Forest boss doubled down on his self-anointed status as Uganda’s top artist — despite recent airwave trends favoring other musicians.

“I don’t need a hit song to be on top. Every artist wants to be like me — that alone keeps me number one,” Alien Skin asserted confidently.

Known for his confrontational style and unapologetic brand, the “Fangone First Boss” went further, describing himself as the benchmark by which all other artists measure their success.

“I set myself as the diameter that everyone measures themselves against. I am the bar — whether they like it or not,” he stated.

The bold metaphor has since fueled debate across social media, with critics questioning whether influence without consistent hits can sustain long-term relevance in an increasingly streaming-driven market.

Alien Skin’s argument hinges on cultural impact rather than commercial metrics. While several Ugandan artists currently enjoy heavier rotation on radio and stronger digital streaming numbers, he insists that numbers alone do not define industry leadership.

According to him, imitation is proof of supremacy.

He even suggested that fellow artists plotting to “take over” only validate his dominance — a claim that has divided fans between admiration and skepticism.

Industry observers note that Alien Skin’s recent releases have not matched the explosive momentum of his breakout period. Meanwhile, competitors have capitalized on viral trends, international collaborations, and digital marketing strategies to capture wider audiences.

Yet Alien Skin appears unconcerned.

“I’m still the best, even if I don’t have hits. I don’t need music to be who I am,” he reportedly said — a statement that has triggered both applause and backlash.

Is Alien Skin redefining what it means to be number one — or resisting a changing music landscape where data, streams, and consistency matter more than persona?

One thing is certain: whether dominating charts or dominating headlines, Alien Skin knows how to keep Uganda talking.

And in today’s attention economy, that might be the biggest hit of all.
