Celebrated dancehall singer Cindy Sanyu has boldly declared that she doesn’t need a chart-topping hit to pull off a successful concert. With just days to go before her highly anticipated solo show at Millennium Park on August 29, 2025, the self-proclaimed King Herself says her brand and unmatched stage presence are enough to deliver a memorable experience.
For years, the unwritten rule in the Ugandan music industry has been that a hit song is the passport to a successful concert. But Cindy is rewriting that script.
Speaking during an interview with Calvin The Entertainer, the former Blu*3 member made it clear that she’s banking on her extensive music catalog, energetic performances, and loyal fanbase to draw crowds — not just a trending single.
“The music is just a bonus,” Cindy said. “I don’t necessarily need a hit to stage a show because my fans – and even those who aren’t fans – know they’ll get their money’s worth when they attend my concerts. I’ll give you a show. I’ll work for your money 100% until it is exhausted.”
Cindy, known for her electric live shows, added that her name alone now commands a presence, and that her reputation for live performance has grown bigger than any one song.
“I’m at a point in my life where my name sells more than the songs. You don’t have to like me, but when you come, you’ll enjoy the experience. That’s what people pay for — not just a song, but the full Cindy Sanyu experience.”
With the countdown on to her August 29th concert at Millennium Park, Kampala, industry observers are eager to see how the show will shape perceptions around what it takes to host a successful music event in Uganda.
Cindy’s statement challenges the industry norm and sets the tone for a performance that promises more than just music — it promises a show.
Tickets for Cindy Live at Millennium Park are already on sale at selected outlets and online platforms. Gates open at 4 PM, with an all-star lineup of surprise performers expected to join the stage.
