Lilian Mbabazi Fires Back at MC Kats Over Claims UNMF Abandoned Fille During Recovery

Singer Lilian Mbabazi has strongly refuted claims by media personality MC Kats that the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) failed to support singer Fille Mutoni during her battle with drug addiction.

Speaking during an appearance on Galaxy TV, the Rwandan-Ugandan vocalist dismissed the allegations as dishonest and unfair, insisting that the federation has played a significant role in supporting Fille and other musicians behind the scenes.

MC Kats recently alleged that UNMF did little to help Fille throughout her recovery journey. However, Lilian, who is closely involved with the federation’s activities, challenged Kats to reflect on the federation’s efforts before making public accusations.

“I think that if MC Kats is very honest, he will look within himself and remember everything we have done for Fille,” Lilian said. “We are not the kind of people who go around telling everyone what we have done for someone. The only problem is that Kats has not been honest.”

She directly called out the outspoken TV personality, urging him to reconsider his statements and acknowledge the federation’s contribution.

“Kats, you better call me because you have not been honest. You understand that we have been there, and for you to come and say we have not, that is a lie, bro. In 2026, let us tell the truth,” she added.

Lilian further revealed that over the past two years, UNMF has actively supported several musicians through concert backing and rehabilitation initiatives facilitated by its mental health department. According to her, Fille was among the beneficiaries of these programs.

“We have been supporting musicians for almost two years now. We have supported many concerts for musicians. Through our mental health department, we have rehabilitated many musicians,” she stated.

She maintained that the federation’s work has empowered many artistes to rebuild both their personal lives and professional careers.

Addressing the specific allegations about Fille, Lilian did not hold back. “Kats claiming that we did not help Fille is bullshit. We have supported musicians in a way that has empowered them greatly, including myself,” she said.

The remarks come amid ongoing discussions within the music industry about financial and emotional support for artistes, particularly following a reported dispute involving MC Kats and Eddy Kenzo over financial backing for Fille’s concert.

As the debate continues, Lilian’s comments have added a new layer to the controversy, putting the spotlight on the role of the Uganda National Musicians Federation in supporting artistes facing personal and professional challenges.
