A wave of royal elegance swept through Entebbe International Airport on Tuesday afternoon as Her Royal Highness Princess Ruth Nsemere Komuntale Akiiki, the Batebe (Princess Royal) of Tooro Kingdom, touched down from the United States, accompanied by her husband, Mr. Anthony Phil.
The royal couple’s arrival marks the beginning of the grand countdown to the 30th coronation anniversary of her brother, His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, scheduled to take place from September 10th to 13th, 2025, at the historic Karuzika Palace in Fort Portal.
Princess Komuntale, a cherished figure in Uganda’s cultural landscape, returns not only as royalty but also as a symbol of unity, heritage, and the enduring strength of the Tooro Kingdom. Her homecoming resonates deeply with the people of Tooro, who hold the Batebe in high esteem for her grace, dignity, and commitment to preserving cultural values.
While in Uganda, Princess Komuntale will grace the Ekyooto Ha Mpango Festival, a key highlight of the coronation celebrations. Organized by Talent Africa Group, the festival showcases Tooro’s cultural wealth through traditional music, dance, art, fashion, and cuisine. It is expected to attract local and international visitors, all eager to experience the vibrant heritage of the Kingdom.
In a gesture of openness and inclusivity, King Oyo has invited all Ugandans and friends of Tooro to participate in the celebrations. The gates of Karuzika Palace will be opened to the public, offering a rare opportunity for citizens to engage directly with royal traditions and festivities in an atmosphere of unity and pride.
“This coronation is not just for Tooro; it is for all Ugandans and Africans who value tradition, leadership, and unity,” said a Kingdom representative.
