Asuman Basalirwa: “Bobi Wine Has Completely Changed, We No Longer Understand Him”

Bugiri Municipality Member of Parliament Asuman Basalirwa has expressed disappointment in National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, accusing him of pride and abandoning the humility that once defined his political character.

Speaking to local media, Basalirwa said the Bobi Wine of today is vastly different from the one they knew during the Kyadondo East days.

“I no longer understand the current Bobi Wine. This one is so much different from the one we had in Kyadondo who used to call or even come home when we had a misunderstanding,” Basalirwa lamented.
“Bobi Wine is currently so proud and I was so disappointed in him when he accused us live on BBC of bringing the homosexuality bill to target him. He even went as far as blocking me on social media. He has completely changed, and we no longer understand him,” he added.

Basalirwa and Bobi Wine were once close political allies who stood side by side in the opposition struggle. However, their relationship appears to have soured in recent months, with public disagreements and online tension hinting at a growing rift between the two.

The comments have sparked mixed reactions among supporters, with some defending Bobi Wine’s stance as principled, while others agree with Basalirwa’s claim that fame and politics have changed the NUP leader.
