Kale banange, Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) president and dancehall queen Cindy Sanyu has shocked fans after revealing that she is planning to meet President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni just to beg for fellow artist-turned-politician Bobi Wine to be allowed back on stage.
Bobi Wine, alias Robert Kyagulanyi, has been off the stage for years now after his concerts were blocked the moment he declared war on Museveni’s long stay in power. The government accused him of turning music shows into political rallies, and ever since then, the mic has been silent for the Ghetto President.
But Cindy says Uganda can’t continue denying the industry one of its finest talents. The shocker? She says she is even willing to kneel before the big man at State House to convince him to allow Bobi Wine to sing again.
“Bobi Wine is not just a politician, he is also one of Uganda’s greatest musicians. The government should separate his political role from his artistic career. We cannot deny the industry his contribution as a musician. If kneeling before the President will convince him to lift the ban, then I am ready to do it,” Cindy confessed.
