Bebe Cool Accused of Shielding Criminal Artists in Uganda’s Music Industry

Veteran musician Bebe Cool, one of Uganda’s most celebrated music icons, is facing growing criticism over allegations that he is protecting artists accused of engaging in criminal activities.

While Bebe Cool has long been credited for shaping Uganda’s music industry and influencing youth culture, critics argue that his close ties with certain controversial musicians have raised public concern.

According to various commentators, several artists facing accusations of crime have reportedly turned to Bebe Cool for protection, enabling them to evade justice. This, critics claim, has emboldened criminal gangs operating under the guise of music camps, allegedly destabilizing peace and security for ordinary Ugandans.

A concerned group of citizens on Tuesday urged the musician to distance himself from what they described as a “new regime of criminal artists” in order to safeguard the lives of innocent Ugandans.

“Bebe Cool has been a role model in music for years. But if he continues associating with criminal elements, it risks tarnishing his legacy and endangering the public,” the group said in a statement.

The accusations come at a time when Uganda’s entertainment industry is under scrutiny, with critics warning that music camps should not be used as cover for crime.

As of now, Bebe Cool has not issued an official response to the claims.
