Students at Cream Field Vocational School in Nakifuma-Naggalama Town council were utterly upset when they discovered 15 of their colleagues were blocked from sitting the 2025 Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) exams on 13 October, despite paying the mandatory 250,000 UNEB registration fees.
The affected students were shocked early Monday to discover they had been left out of the exams, causing some of them to collapse. The situation got intense when students erupted in anger, smashing windows and vandalizing other school properties.
Officers from Naggalama Police Station were called in swiftly to contain the situation. The area member of parliament, Fred Simbwa, pleaded on behalf of the affected students to prevent them from being arrested. He further demanded that the school administrators should be held accountable.
Parents of the affected students were devastated and voiced frustrations over unfair actions of the school administration.
"Instead of arresting those who ate our children's money, the police are turning on the victims," said one of the affected parents.
The Resident District Commissioner, Ndisaba, rebuked the school administration for being negligent and ordered the immediate closure of the school. She further instructed the district police commander to arrest the school administrators responsible for the negligence.
