Comparing Joshua Baraka to Eddy Kenzo Is Misplaced — B2C’s Delivad Julio Speaks Out

Delivad Julio, a member of the acclaimed Ugandan music group B2C Boys, has addressed the ongoing comparisons between fast-rising star Joshua Baraka and award-winning artist Eddy Kenzo, describing them as misguided and unnecessary.

Baraka, who continues to gain traction both locally and on the international stage, has recently been likened to Kenzo—largely due to achieving milestones similar to those the latter reached several years ago. However, Julio argues that such comparisons fail to capture the broader context of each artist’s journey.

According to Julio, placing Baraka and Kenzo side by side overlooks the significant gap in experience, consistency, and career evolution. He emphasized that Kenzo’s legacy, built over many years, cannot fairly be measured against an artist still navigating the early stages of his career.

His fellow B2C member, Mr. Lee, shared a similar perspective. While acknowledging Baraka’s impressive rise, he stressed that comparisons between the two artists are unnecessary and potentially dismissive.

“Baraka might even surpass Eddy, but that doesn’t mean we should compare them,” Mr. Lee noted. “Eddy has done a lot, and that’s undeniable. We’ve never seen people constantly comparing or undermining legends like Jose Chameleone. Let’s celebrate Eddy for his achievements and also appreciate Joshua for his own journey.”

Julio further highlighted Kenzo’s longevity, pointing out that the singer has remained relevant for nearly two decades—an achievement that underscores his influence and staying power in the industry.

He concluded that it is premature and unfair to place Kenzo in the same bracket as an artist who has only been active for a few years, urging fans to recognize and respect each artist’s unique path and contribution to Ugandan music.
