In a beautiful moment that left the audience applauding with warmth, Eddy Kenzo and Dr. Hamza Sebunya—husband to Kenzo’s ex, Rema Namakula—finally shared a heartfelt hug live on stage during Halima Namakula’s 50th anniversary celebration concert at Serena Hotel Kampala this past Saturday.
The two, often portrayed by the public as rivals due to their history with Rema, showed the world that there is no bad blood between them. Instead, what the Serena Hotel crowd witnessed was a genuine display of maturity, love, and unity.
After delivering a captivating performance, Eddy Kenzo addressed the crowd and used the moment to send out a powerful message:
"I have no hate for Hamza or Rema. I wish them nothing but happiness. If you ever shared something beautiful with someone and it ended, especially if you had a child together, don’t focus on the pain. Focus on the beautiful memories."
As Kenzo finished speaking, Dr. Hamza Sebunya was invited on stage. What followed was a brotherly embrace, a symbolic act of peace that brought cheers, emotional reactions, and loud applause from the audience.
Kenzo also took a moment to thank Halima Namakula, the celebrated singer and mentor, for always being a mother figure to him, Rema, and many others in the industry.
“Thank you for uniting us and being a good and brave parent. Around you, love is always celebrated.”
This heartwarming reunion not only honored Halima’s musical legacy but also reminded Ugandans that love, forgiveness, and growth are always possible—no matter the past.
As Halima marked 50 years in music, her event didn’t just celebrate music—it celebrated unity, family, and healing.
