Eddy Kenzo Dismisses Shs25m Claim in Fille Mutoni Saga, Calls Allegations “Media Propaganda”

Ugandan musician and Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) president Eddy Kenzo has finally broken his silence on the ongoing controversy surrounding claims that the federation extended Shs25 million in financial support to singer Fille Mutoni.

The allegations, which were publicly raised by media personality MC Kats, accused UNMF of falsely claiming it had financially supported Fille during her struggles. However, Kenzo has strongly dismissed the claims, branding them as misinformation and media propaganda.

Speaking on the matter, Kenzo clarified that UNMF never entered into any Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MC Kats and never issued Shs25 million to Fille Mutoni as alleged. He further revealed that documents circulating on social media purporting to show proof of the alleged funds were fake.

“The saga alleging that the Federation (UNMF) gave Shs25 million is pure media propaganda. Not everything that comes out in the media is true. The documents you saw were all fake,” Kenzo stated.

Kenzo explained that UNMF’s involvement with Fille was strictly humanitarian and supportive, not financial. According to him, the federation stepped in during a difficult period in the singer’s life by facilitating her rehabilitation and ensuring her well-being.

“What I know is that Fille approached us when she was not doing well. We placed her in a rehabilitation facility for some time and would often visit her,” he said.

He added that once Fille had recovered, UNMF organized a welcome-back party in her honor and even traveled with her to Rwanda. After that, Kenzo emphasized, the federation stepped back and allowed her to resume her independent life like any other individual.

“When she felt better, we threw her a welcome party and even travelled to Rwanda. From that point, she was out of our hands and returned to living her independent life,” Kenzo explained.

The clarification comes amid heightened public debate over Fille Mutoni’s recovery and the role played by individuals and organizations in supporting her. The controversy has sparked mixed reactions online, with many calling for transparency while others urge restraint in spreading unverified claims.

As the discussion continues, Kenzo’s statement aims to set the record straight and reaffirm UNMF’s position amid growing scrutiny of the federation’s operations, especially following reports that it recently received additional government funding to strengthen musician financing.
