BET award-winning artist Eddy Kenzo has clapped back at fellow musician Bebe Cool following his controversial remarks made during his appearance on the Talk and Talk show, where Bebe claimed he deserves billions in government support for his long-standing contribution to the Ugandan music industry.
Kenzo, widely recognized for his international milestones, dismissed Bebe Coolâs demand for selective funding and emphasized the need for a more inclusive and fair approach to industry support.

âThe idea doesnât work for me because the music industry doesnât revolve around just two or three people,â Kenzo stated. âItâs broad, and government funding is meant to serve everyone.â
While Bebe Coolâs comments seemed aimed at asserting his dominance in the Ugandan music space, Kenzo maintained that the industry thrives on diversity and collective progress, not individual entitlement.
In addition to challenging Bebeâs stance on funding, Kenzo also addressed the Gagamel bossâs attempt to downplay his international recognition. Bebe Cool questioned Kenzoâs global influence, despite Kenzo being the first Ugandan artist to win a BET award and perform at several prestigious international platforms.
âEveryone has their choice to see and analyze things the way they want,â Kenzo replied. âSo if he said Iâm not global, he might be correct in his ignorance. Iâm not responsible for anybodyâs ignorance.â
Kenzo added that his track record speaks for itself and doesnât need defending.
âThe good thing is that the facts and reality are there, of what Iâve achieved so far. So thereâs no need to argue with certain remarks like Bebe Coolâs,â he concluded.
This exchange is just the latest in a long history of public spats between the two musical heavyweights, and it highlights the ongoing debate around government involvement and recognition in the Ugandan creative arts industry.
