The President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), Eddy Kenzo, has spoken out following President Yoweri Museveni’s comments about Bebe Cool and the long-promised recording studio project.
While launching his new music album compiled by UNMF, President Museveni revealed that he had supported Bebe Cool to set up a recording center years ago but has never received updates on its progress. Despite raising concerns about the stalled project, Museveni praised Kenzo and his federation for putting government support to good use in advancing the music industry.
In response, Kenzo urged the media and the public not to dwell too much on past challenges but to instead focus on the progress made so far. “For us we appreciate each and every step which was taken before and we started from there to where we are now. Sometimes we don’t want to go back to such conversations yet we have this,” Kenzo said.
The BET Award winner emphasized that Bebe Cool still plays a vital role in Uganda’s music industry, regardless of the concerns raised by the President. “We still need Bebe Cool in many things as an elder and he has guided us in so many things. I can’t start pointing fingers at what Bebe Cool did or didn’t do, but I believe he will sort his issues with the President,” he added.
Kenzo’s remarks highlight his leadership style at UNMF, where he continues to push for unity among artists while also appreciating government support toward the industry.
