Ugandan music star Eddy Kenzo has spoken out to clear the air regarding claims that he stopped fellow artist Jose Chameleone from speaking to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during the Yoweri Album Launch held at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
Addressing the matter, Kenzo explained that the situation was purely a misunderstanding caused by the event’s tight schedule and the President’s exhaustion after a long day of engagements.
“I never denied Jose Chameleone a chance to talk to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Chameleone needs to understand that we had a program and the President was tired and also had SFC pressure,” Kenzo clarified.
He further noted that, despite the time constraints, he still ensured that all the musicians present were acknowledged by the President.
“In the end, I requested President Museveni to wave to all of them, including Willy Mukabya and Dan Mugula,” Kenzo added.
Reports circulating on social media suggested that Chameleone interpreted the incident as a sign of disrespect, sparking talk of tension between the two legendary artists.
Kenzo’s statement, however, appears aimed at dispelling those rumors and maintaining harmony within Uganda’s entertainment industry.
The Yoweri Album Launch was a high-profile event attended by top artists, dignitaries, and government officials. The celebration also highlighted Kenzo’s collaboration with President Museveni on the track “Yoweri”, a song dedicated to the Head of State.
