Eddy Kenzo Speaks Out: Why He Can’t Advise Museveni on Bobi Wine’s Stage Return

Singer-turned-Presidential Advisor Eddy Kenzo has revealed why he cannot advise President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on allowing Bobi Wine to perform freely on stage.

“I can’t advise President Museveni about permitting Bobi Wine to perform as he used to because the latter wants to unseat the former,” Eddy Kenzo stated.

Kenzo explained that every time Bobi Wine steps on stage, he uses his music as a platform to promote political change and challenge the current government. “The stage is his gun that he uses to enlighten others to call for change. So, I can’t,” Kenzo added.

The singer also hinted at unresolved personal issues with Bobi Wine, further complicating his position.

Despite these restrictions, Bobi Wine—real name Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu—remains a popular figure both locally and internationally. His music and message continue to be seen as a political threat to the long-standing Museveni administration.

As performance bans continue, the debate over the intersection of music and politics in Uganda shows no signs of slowing down.
