Former Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Afande Asan Kasingye has strongly condemned ASP Nsiima Clive for allegedly assaulting a young woman at the Shell Kyanja gas station, describing the officer’s actions as unacceptable and unbecoming of a law enforcer.
In a post shared on his official social media platforms, Kasingye expressed outrage over the viral video showing the incident, calling for decisive disciplinary action. He urged the Uganda Police Force to dismiss ASP Nsiima immediately to preserve the integrity of the institution.
“There’s no justification for such brutality. That officer should be thrown out of the police force. We cannot tolerate individuals who tarnish the image of the service,” Kasingye stated.
The video circulating online shows a heated confrontation where ASP Nsiima is seen physically assaulting a young woman at the fuel station, an act that has sparked public outrage and calls for justice from human rights activists and ordinary citizens alike.
Several Ugandans have since taken to social media to demand accountability, using hashtags such as #JusticeForTheLady and #EndPoliceBrutality.
Police spokespersons are yet to release an official statement regarding the matter, but internal investigations are reportedly underway.
Kasingye, who has long been known for his vocal stance on police professionalism and discipline, emphasized that law enforcement officers must uphold respect for human rights at all times.
“We joined the force to protect, not to harm. Any officer who forgets that principle has no place among us,” he added.
The incident has reignited debate on police conduct and accountability within Uganda’s security agencies, with many citizens urging reforms to curb excessive use of force by officers.
