Kampala, Uganda – July 29, 2025 — Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces and First Son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has issued a heartfelt message to the younger generation, urging them to steer clear of alcohol, cigarettes, and drug use, while encouraging them to pursue a life of discipline and faith.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Gen. Muhoozi reflected on the influence of past military culture and the mistakes of earlier generations, cautioning young people not to follow in those footsteps.
"Drinking is a bad idea too. Some of us were spoilt on that one by our elders in the military, our bosses at that time. Do not copy us on that. Be better than us," he posted.
"The best thing is to imitate Jesus Christ and not drink or smoke anything. Then you will be great people... and you will live long," he added.
The General further clarified that he does not smoke and strongly advises all youth to avoid cigarettes, marijuana, and similar substances. His remarks have sparked a wave of reactions online, with many praising the General for using his platform to promote morality, health, and spiritual values.
This is not the first time Gen. Muhoozi has addressed youth-related issues on his social media. Known for his candid and at times philosophical posts, the First Son has increasingly used his influence to shape conversations around leadership, patriotism, and personal discipline.
Youth leaders and religious groups have welcomed his latest message, saying it aligns with ongoing campaigns to fight drug abuse and alcoholism among Ugandan youth.
