Kyotera politician and celebrated Ugandan singer, Hon. Geoffrey Lutaaya, has finally stepped in to support his daughter, Mellan Nambatya Lutaaya, by clearing her school dues after days of public debate and online drama.
Earlier this week, Mellan Nambatya came out publicly accusing her father of neglecting his parental responsibilities, claiming that all her efforts to reach him had been ignored. Her emotional revelations quickly went viral on social media, sparking mixed reactions from the public.
In a swift response, Hon. Lutaaya acknowledged Mellan as his biological daughter, stressing that certain malicious individuals were using her to push their hidden agendas. He further expressed his decision to take full custody of his 17-year-old daughter to protect her from social media manipulation and unnecessary drama.
According to a TikTok update from Mellan, her father has since cleared her school fees. She explained that the exciting news was communicated by her school administration, which contacted her mother and encouraged her to return to class.
Visibly relieved, Mellan expressed heartfelt gratitude to her father for “sacrificing his hard-earned money” to secure her education. She also appreciated the media for amplifying her voice and helping her reconnect with her father.
Interestingly, Mellan used the opportunity to send a message to her father’s supporters in Kyotera District, urging them to vote for him in the 2026 general elections, noting that she wishes to spend more quality time with him as both a father and leader.
Hon. Geoffrey Lutaaya, together with his wife and fellow singer Irene Namatovu, is currently marking 10 years of marriage, a milestone that coincides with resolving this family matter.
With this development, Mellan Nambatya is expected to return to school, putting an end—at least for now—to the family drama that had captivated the public eye.
