Mayor Lukwago Backs King Saha for UNMF Presidency, Citing Leadership and Vision

The long-running leadership battles in Uganda’s music industry just got a fresh twist—Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago** has thrown his full support behind singer King Saha, calling him the right man to lead the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA). Speaking out during a recent interview, Lukwago praised the Zakayo hitmaker for his commitment, vision, and genuine love for the music industry. “King Saha is not just a talented musician; he’s someone with the heart to serve fellow artists,” Lukwago said. This isn’t just talk—Lukwago was also part of King Saha’s legal team during the controversial 2022 UMA elections, which were abruptly canceled after technical glitches and drama between candidates. Back then, Saha was set to go head-to-head with Cindy Sanyu, who still holds the UMA presidency. With the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) now in the picture, led by Eddy Kenzo, the industry has found itself divided. However, Lukwago is calling for a fresh, fair election under UMA and believes King Saha is still the best man for the job. “Saha stood for unity, transparency, and the interests of artists,” Lukwago added. “He should be given the chance to lead.” Meanwhile, fans and artists are divided—some support the rise of UNMF, while others want UMA to be revived and strengthened under fresh leadership. One thing’s for sure: the fight for the soul of Uganda’s music industry is far from .
