MC Kats Speaks Out: Celebrated Ugandan Events Host Says He’s Tired of “Fake” Celebrity Life

Renowned Ugandan media personality and events host Edwin Katamba, widely known as MC Kats, has shocked fans after revealing he is fed up with the pressures of being a public figure.

Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, the celebrated Kampala events host poured out his frustrations, admitting that the celebrity lifestyle has become “unbearable” and “fake.”

“I wish you all know how much am fed up, tired, frustrated, wanna retire being a public or celebrity. You wud not comment when I lament. This life is so fake n I can’t fake,” MC Kats wrote.

The award-winning TV and events MC, who has played a key role in shaping Uganda’s entertainment industry, hinted at his plans to retire from the limelight, calling the life of fame “unsustainable.”

MC Kats also reflected on his humble beginnings, revealing how he started hustling at just 16 years old on the streets of Kampala without family support.

“Started early 16 years on my own grind n hustle. No family but streets as friends. I guess am just tired,” he said.

His emotional posts struck a chord with many of his followers, with some sympathizing with his struggles and suggesting that he deserves more recognition for his contributions to Uganda’s entertainment industry.

In response, MC Kats shared one of those supportive posts, seemingly relieved that someone understood his pain.

The MC Kats Live host further revealed how his upbringing shaped his giving nature. Growing up in a well-off family inspired him to help the less fortunate — but he now feels drained and unappreciated.

“Growing up in a family that had it all made me wanna give coz I thought we had way a lot, yet people didn’t have even the little needs of life. I got lost and lost me to see others fine. Am now so drained that they all can’t see it I did for them,” he confessed.

MC Kats’ revelations have sparked conversations online about the mental and emotional toll of fame on public figures in Uganda. Many fans and fellow celebrities have urged him to take time off and prioritize his well-being.
