The National Unity Platform (NUP) has unveiled a Presidential Medical Brigade to provide urgent healthcare services for supporters during presidential campaign activities of party leader and candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine.
The initiative was officially launched by the NUP Lubaga South chapter just a day before Kyagulanyi’s expected nomination for the 2026 presidential race.
According to party officials, the medical team was formed in response to repeated incidents where supporters sustained injuries during political events but reportedly faced delays in accessing treatment. Some cases, NUP claims, resulted in preventable deaths.
“This brigade will ensure our supporters receive timely medical attention during campaign activities. We cannot afford to lose more lives due to lack of quick medical response,” a party representative said during the launch.
The Presidential Medical Brigade is expected to be deployed at campaign rallies and other mobilization activities, ensuring that emergency care is available on the ground.
The move highlights the party’s preparedness for the campaign period, which has often been marred by confrontations between security forces and opposition supporters.
Kyagulanyi, widely known as Bobi Wine, remains one of President Yoweri Museveni’s strongest challengers, and his official nomination is scheduled for tomorrow.
