The iconic Nyege Nyege Festival is back with renewed energy and a fresh location for its 2025 edition, promising yet another unforgettable celebration of music, culture, and art under the theme “Ekiggunda Ky’omuliro: The Gathering of the Flame.”
Scheduled to take place from Thursday, November 20th to Sunday, November 23rd, 2025, the festival will this time unfold at Kalagala Falls, a breathtaking site located just across Itanda Falls on the River Nile in Kangulumira, about 27 kilometers north of Jinja City. The site last hosted the festival in 2022 and is known for its stunning natural backdrop that perfectly complements Nyege Nyege’s immersive cultural experiences.
Festival organisers, in a brief announcement today, described the venue shift as a "homecoming to nature" and a step toward deeper artistic exploration. The move to Kalagala Falls is expected to offer a more intimate and eco-centric vibe, setting the stage for a unique festival experience.
The 2025 edition announcement comes on the heels of the widely acclaimed 2024 Nyege Nyege Festival, which ran from November 14th to 17th. Last year, the event transformed Jinja Golf Course and the Source of the Nile into vibrant cultural hubs as part of a new concept called "Nyege in the City."
The 2024 festival attracted global audiences with a lineup of over 300 local and international artists, including Acid Pauli, Cheb Runner, DJ Diaki, Tash LC, Jamz Supernova, DJ Travella, Authentically Plastic, and Kampire. The programme featured a wide range of music genres—from experimental electronic beats to Afro-fusion and traditional Ugandan rhythms—making it a true melting pot of global cultures.
Celebrated Ugandan acts such as Kenneth Mugabi and DJ Suuna Ben also thrilled fans, reaffirming the festival's commitment to elevating local talent. Festival-goers praised the 2024 edition for its vibrant atmosphere, seamless organisation, and tight security, all of which contributed to a safe and inclusive space for music lovers from around the world.
With the move to Kalagala Falls, organisers hint at a return to Nyege Nyege's roots—bringing together raw nature, electrifying music, and cultural unity.
