Patrick Salvado Hails Amooti Omubalanguzi as Uganda’s Funniest Living Comedian

Renowned stand-up comedian Patrick Idringi Salvado has openly declared fellow comedian Amooti Omubalanguzi as the funniest Ugandan alive, stressing that no one in the country has made him laugh harder. While appearing on the Ugandan Boy Talk Show, Salvado—often referred to as The Man from Ombokolo—was asked to name who he considers the funniest person in Uganda. Without hesitation, he responded: “Amooti Omubalanguzi, hands down. Amooti, legend.” Salvado didn’t just stop at praising Amooti’s humor. He went on to express genuine concern about how the comedy icon is often underappreciated, especially in mainstream award nominations. > “I feel offended when he is put in the same category of awards with us. I feel like he doesn’t get the flowers he deserves. He created the footprint of comedy,” Salvado said passionately. Amooti, real name Allan Mujuni, is a household name in Ugandan entertainment, known for his decades-long career in comedy, acting, and music. His witty, relatable humor and natural stage presence have inspired an entire generation of comedians—including Salvado himself. Salvado’s remarks have sparked conversations online, with many agreeing that Amooti is indeed a comedy pioneer whose contribution to Uganda’s entertainment industry deserves more honor and visibility. As the comedy scene continues to grow in Uganda, voices like Salvado’s are a strong reminder to acknowledge and celebrate the legends who laid the foundation for what it is today.
