Reign Omusoyisoyi, real name Obed Lubega, had expressed interest in contesting for the Lubaga South Member of Parliament seat under the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Despite his early preparations and visible campaign efforts — including distributing posters and mobilizing supporters across Lubaga — Reign was denied the party ticket.
While some disappointed aspirants opted to go independent, the comedian and musician chose a different path. Reign instead threw his full support behind NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
In a new campaign-inspired song, Reign praises Bobi Wine as the voice of the youth and the true symbol of hope for both Uganda’s future and the creative industry.
“Bobi Wine is the driving force behind our desire for change. He represents every young person’s dream for a better Uganda,” Reign emphasizes in the song.
The move has drawn admiration from many NUP supporters and Ugandans online, who commended Reign for his loyalty and humility despite being sidelined during the nomination process.
Reign’s decision reflects his belief that supporting the broader cause for change outweighs personal ambition — a stance many have described as inspiring and patriotic.
