“Stand By Your Word!” – Kapa Cat Slams Aaronx Over Apology to Bebe Cool

Dancehall artist Kapa Cat has come out strongly against fellow musician Aaronx, expressing her disappointment in his recent public apology to veteran artist Bebe Cool.

Speaking during an interview on Galaxy TV, Kapa Cat criticized Aaronx for what she termed as “bowing to pressure” from Bebe Cool’s fans — the Gagamel camp — after he had earlier commented that Bebe Cool’s new album “didn’t cross borders.”

According to Kapa Cat, Aaronx’s decision to retract his statement and blame it on “camera excitement” was a betrayal to his fans and a damaging blow to his brand.

“You are an artist with a hit song; you’re allowed to have an opinion. You create — you have a right to think differently. Why would you come out and say you were ‘camera excited’? Do you know what that does to people who believed in you?” Kapa Cat said during the televised interview.

She went on to stress that while she does not support disrespect, she strongly believes that artists should stand by their statements — especially if those statements reflect their genuine thoughts.

“Apologize for using wrong language if you must, but not for expressing your truth. You weren’t drunk. You weren’t forced. So stand by your word,” she emphasized.

Kapa Cat also drew from her own experience, revealing that she frequently faces backlash online — particularly from Spice Diana’s fans — over her critiques of Diana’s dancehall music. Despite the heat, she says she never backs down because she stands by her convictions.

“Spice Diana’s fans insult me every time I speak, but I’ll never retract my statements. If I said it, I meant it,” she declared.

The outspoken singer, known for her fierce loyalty to the Ugandan dancehall scene, confessed she had once been a big fan of Aaronx but lost morale after watching his apology video.

“He has a good voice and he’s talented, but that apology drained all of that for me. If I was following him, I would have unfollowed him. We want artists who stand firm, not those who are easily intimidated,” Kapa Cat added.

The controversy began after Aaronx, in a recent YouTube interview, claimed that Bebe Cool’s latest album lacked international impact. The comment sparked outrage among Gagamel fans, many of whom threatened to boycott Aaronx’s music. Under mounting pressure, Aaronx issued a public apology, attributing his remarks to being overly excited in front of the camera.

Kapa Cat now urges him to “correct” that mistake and restore confidence among fans who once believed in him.
