Budding TikTok wannabe Shyroota, real name Sharon Adong, spent Monday night in jail after being arrested for launching tribal attacks on singer Lucky Jo, his mother, and the people of Teso, his region of origin.
The 19-year-old faces cyber harassment and hate speech charges following a series of controversial TikTok videos where she hurled offensive tribal insults, calling the people of Teso “stupid and backward.”
In the same rants, Shyroota—who previously admitted to being in love with Lucky Jo—directed her anger toward his mother and blamed his family for “blocking” her love interest. Her frustrations boiled over after seeing Jo with another woman.
“She has abused my people and attacked my mother. That’s not love—it’s harassment,” Lucky Jo stated at the police station, expressing dismay at the extent of her public attacks.
Shyroota, who went as far as tattooing Jo’s name on her body, claims her behavior was driven by emotions and part of her so-called “content creation.” At the station, she begged for forgiveness and asked to be helped return to her home in Northern Uganda.
She first drew public attention over an alleged fling with singer Vyroota, which she said resulted in a pregnancy that was later terminated.
Despite her minor online following, Shyroota brands herself as “unruly” and “untouchable” in her TikTok bio, calling herself the “president of violence.” However, her arrest paints a starkly different picture.
Police have since cautioned social media users, especially young content creators, against using digital platforms to promote tribalism, hate, and personal attacks. Investigations into Shyroota’s case are ongoing.
