Former TV star turned politician Tuff B has reignited the debate over Uganda’s music giants after boldly stating that Bobi Wine and Bebe Cool cannot be compared.
Speaking in an in-depth interview on Deep Talk with Mr. Henrie, Tuff B—who has worked closely with both stars—urged Ugandans to stop placing them in the same conversation, saying their priorities and values are completely different.
Tuff B, once a devoted member of Bebe Cool’s Gagamel Crew, famously teamed up with him on the diss track Dogo Lyo targeting Bobi Wine’s Matyansi Butyampa. The pair later fell out, and to the surprise of many, Tuff B crossed over to Bobi Wine’s NUP and Firebase camp.
“Do not put Robert Kyagulanyi in the same statement about reasoning with Moses Ssali. Moses Ssali’s world stops around him and his family. I do not have anything against him; for Robert Kyagulanyi, his world stops at every Ugandan young boy, their future, how they slept last night, and what their future holds for them. You are totally trying to demean my president,” he said.
Recalling his early encounters with Bobi Wine, Tuff B described him as a feared “gangster” surrounded by a large entourage in a war bus. But over time, he says, he saw a different side—one that earned his admiration.
“When the Firebase war bus stopped, over 25 of them would come out… With time, you realize the gangster and the bad man you see is different from Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, then you start respecting him,” he added.
Tuff B’s comments have sparked mixed reactions. Supporters of Bebe Cool accuse him of praising Bobi Wine to gain political mileage, with speculation mounting that he plans to contest for a parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections under the NUP ticket.
