The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has issued a stern second warning to all media broadcasters, TikTokers, bloggers, and online TV owners to stop creating or announcing unofficial election results.
According to the UCC, no media outlet, influencer, or blogger has the authority to set up tally centers or declare results from polling stations, constituencies, cities, or regions. The Commission emphasized that such actions are illegal and misleading to the public.
The exclusive mandate to announce and declare election results lies with the Electoral Commission (EC) and its designated officers. Any unauthorized declaration of results could attract serious regulatory and legal consequences.

UCC Executive Director Nyombi Thembo stated that the Commission will continue to monitor and remind media practitioners of the “regulatory red lines” to ensure that professionalism and accuracy are maintained during the electoral process.
“We shall keep reminding media owners and broadcasters so that the regulatory red lines don’t get crossed,” said Nyombi Thembo.
This warning comes as the country gears up for a heated election period, with online platforms playing an increasingly powerful role in shaping public opinion and political narratives.
