Tanzanian singer Zuchu has publicly accused organisers of the CHAN 2024 finale in Nairobi of failing to settle her performance fees, sparking outrage across East Africa’s entertainment scene.
The Wasafi Records star revealed on Instagram that, despite multiple follow-ups since her August 30th performance, she is yet to receive full payment. Zuchu directly tagged the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and LEAP Creative Studio, the Kenyan agency responsible for artist bookings.
“Despite my team’s continuous patience and understanding, I have yet to receive the full payment,” Zuchu wrote.
“Supposed POPs were sent which then turned out unverifiable, suspicious, and clearly not paid out.”
Zuchu Slams Lack of Professionalism
The Sukari hitmaker expressed disappointment, saying she had sacrificed previously booked shows to headline the CHAN 2024 closing ceremony.
“As an artist, I expect to be treated with the respect and fairness that any professional deserves. I dropped other shows for this finale — I do not expect this unfair treatment,” she posted.
She further accused LEAP Creative Studio of arrogance and ignoring her calls and messages, vowing to expose the matter on her social platforms.
Savara Joins Zuchu in Complaints
Kenyan singer Savara has also raised similar concerns about unpaid performance fees, adding weight to Zuchu’s claims.
Ugandan BET Award winner Eddy Kenzo, who also graced the CHAN stage, has not publicly commented on payment issues.
CAF and LEAP Yet to Respond
Neither CAF nor LEAP Creative Studio has issued an official statement regarding the allegations. The silence has fueled speculation and criticism online, with fans demanding transparency from the organisers.
Rising Pressure on Event Organisers
What was meant to be a prestigious continental event is now marred by controversy. With artists like Zuchu and Savara demanding accountability, CHAN 2024 organisers face mounting pressure to resolve the payment scandal and protect their reputation in the entertainment industry.
